I always try hard to do something special for my family for Christmas. I like to put some thought into their gifts, something that actually means something, and something that they can have forever. This year, I was so happy to find the talented (and beautiful) Quinn (aka the doodle bug)to help me with my Christmas gifts. Not only did I give the perfect gift to my family, but I got to support an amazingly talented local artist.

I got her to doodle some of my favorite images, then I got myphotopipe to make some beautiful plaque mounts. In the last 2 years both me and my sister were married, so my parents got 2 beautiful plaques one from each wedding, my sister got the one of herself, my husband got two of us for our anniversary and I was also able to make New Years cards (which are almost ready to mail out)!

I am so happy with these amazing doodles and I really wish I could have shown Quinn the happiness that my family had when opening the gifts. My mom immediately started talking about where the perfect spot would be in the house to display them so everyone could see. It was great! So thank you Quinn!

Oh and if you are getting married she does Save the Dates, as well as after wedding Thank You cards. The sky is really the limit with Quinn. So make sure you check out her site, http://quinnep.com/theblog/! Oh and did I mention that Quinn also designed this blog. She has also modeled for me, make sure to have a look at the pictures below. A women of many talents!

I forgot to mention my favorite part about these presents. I absolutely LOVE them, and smile every time I see them on my wall! So not only did I give a great present, but I got one for myself that I will cherish forever!

Giving Thanks and Canned Food

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Kristi Odom Photography had it’s best year ever, even with moving to the DC area (don’t worry the Atlanta office is still there and thriving). I want to thank all of my wonderful 2009 clients for trusting me to capture such a big day! It was an honor to photograph so many amazing weddings. Now it is my turn to give back…

This year I am going to try something new, Cans for Comments . I will donating one can of food to Food for Others for every comment I get on this blog post from now until Christmas day.

In this industry it is very important to have friends and mentors. I am very happy to have both in the talented Michelle Lindsay of Michelle Lindsay photography. She suggested Cans for Comments and is doing the same thing on her site, so after commenting here, make sure to head over to her blog, http://michellelindsayphotography.com/blog/ and comment on her Cans for Comments post. Here are three weddings that I shot this year as Michelle’s second shooter! Thanks again Michelle for being a friend and an inspiration!

Gabby & Ben
November 21, 2009
Culpeper Virginia
The Inn at Redwood
Foti’s Restaurant

What a wedding! I loved every minute of Gabby and Ben’s beautiful wedding in Culpeper Virginia. The wedding took place in the middle of a rose garden in front of a fountain with a long row of redwoods in the background. It was unbelievable! Gabby said at the beginning that her motto for the day was “no stress” and truly there was no stress! She is just so laid back and go with the flow, the wedding was really about the guests and the celebrating the strong relationship between Gabby and Ben. Here is an example: Right before the reception Gabby was told that there may not be her music playing (so no first dance music or anything). Gabby responded, well we can just dance to what ever music the restaurant has as background music. No worries! I loved that! They did fix the music, but I was really impressed with Gabby and Ben.

I remember telling Sharon (my awesome second for the night, thank you again for everything) that it was one of the first weddings I have shot where every single guest was laid back. No drama whatsoever from Gabby and Ben’s friends! It was a crazy smart group and I remember on many occasions overhearing conversations on calculus, the world’s energy policies, random phrases in French and Portuguese, oh and Mark Twain. I think my favorite was the best man’s toast. It went something like “I want start by quoting the late Douglas Adams by saying “Don’t Panic”. He may of even mentioned the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. My type of group!

So thank you Ben and Gabby, for having us be part of your day, and thank you Sharon for all the amazing pictures!
