Large colorful pieces of artwork, mustaches on a stick, playful flowers, a beautiful bride, and some big characters, yep Kathryn and Joe’s wedding had it all! It was one of my favorites ever to photograph. First off, I just love Kathryn and Joe, and love any excuse to hang out with these two. They are so happy and chill, my type of people! When I got asked to photograph their wedding I was so happy, I could barely wait. The wedding didn’t disappoint. Not only did they get married under huge pieces of artwork, but they had props (I love props)! I just love King Plow, one of my new favorite places in Atlanta to shoot. Also a big shout out to Bold American for some wonderful food. Loved the people preparing hot food on the spot. I had an awesome team of shooters, so a big thank you to Thu and Taylor! Both of you had amazing pictures and are so much fun! One more thank you to Ashley Baker, planner extraordinaire for making our job easy.

What a fun wedding! Heather and Joe are both so full of life, and fun to be around. The wedding was on a very hot day in Atlanta. I was really impressed with Heather’s awesome family. Not only did her 3 brothers fan her, bring her water, and hold light reflectors during portraits, but along with Heather’s father, they did an organized dance that was perhaps the funniest thing I have ever seen. From a keg on a trolley ride to having sprinklers go off on us in the middle of a golf course (it was just a scene out of Happy Gilmore, except with a bride and groom and thousands of dollars in photo gear) this was a wedding I will never forget. So much energy, so much team work, and lots of crazy fun!

I love fresh flowers. When I moved up to Northern Virginia I remember meeting Andrea. She had all these amazing pictures of her flower farm, I was totally blown away. Fields of flowers, a beautiful barn, and a wonderful family. She also had all these pictures of events she had done. The wedding floral arrangements were well beyond anything I had seen, colorful, full and crazy fun. Trying to move my company in a environmental direction, I also love the idea of brides buying local. Lynnvale studios with their fields of flowers are the perfect option for weddings who want to leave less of an impact on the environment. You can even pick your own arrangements! Recently I had the pleasure of photographing and meeting Andrea and her family at their farm. There were so many smiles and laughs, a truly happy family! I totally fell in love with there brand new Weimaraner puppy.

Lindsay & Josh
I had such an amazing time with Lindsay and Josh at their engagement session! We ran around in the heat at the beautiful LynnVale Studios. I have always wanted to shoot inside a corn field, and Lindsay and Josh were the perfect couple. I can’t wait until your wedding next year!

Amy & Dirk

I love Amy and Dirk. They are both so full of life and so much fun! They filled the wedding day with so much personality. Dirk’s and the groomsmen wore bright pink, there was a table of Polaroids for the seating charts, giant blue and pink balls hanging from trees, oh ya and Ritas (my new favorite icy treat) to name a few of the awesome details.

I think my favorite moment was when we went to a field right after the ceremony. Perfect light, and we all just played with the pictures. Amy ended up falling over in the field, conveniently for me, in the perfect spot. While I was taking pictures Amy pointed out the grasshopper just watching everything while sitting on her dress.

Saying I had fun is a bit of an understatement! I smile whenever I think back about Amy and Dirk’s wedding. A big thank you to Astrid for being my star second shooter! You are awesome.

I had so much fun at Mili and Ryan’s wedding! It was a perfect day! Not only was everyone crazy nice (and tons of fun), but Mili and Ryan are crazy in love. I love how expressive Ryan’s eyes are, he had my favorite moment of the whole wedding. Right when Mili’s dad raised her veil and he saw her clearly for the first time, his eyes looked like they were ready to pop out of his head with excitment. I call it a “wowzers” moment (have a look below)!

This wedding was a photographers dream. We got to play with the couple’s big playful personalities for the pictures, we had tons of photo time in beautiful light on the huge Regency at Dominion Valley golf course, oh ya we also had mustaches. I just love the picture of the bridesmaids and the father of the groom all mustached up (it is my husband’s favorite picture I have ever taken). A big thank you to Jennifer at Dominion Valley, you rock and we loved shooting at your breathtaking venue.

I will admit it, I judge people on how they treat their waiter at a restaurant. You can really tell a lot about a person by how they interact with the people they met on a day to day basis. When I first met Melody and Brent we went out for lunch. Over our sandwiches they kept smiling and thanking our waiter. I knew right away that I would love these two. They have a way of making everyone around them happy and they have a way of making people feel good about themselves. Not just with their enormous smiles, but with their complements and ability to thank and truly listen. At the end of their wedding, not only was I blown away by the crazy beauty, the shear size of the bride and grooms smiles, but I truly felt better about myself. So Melody and Brent, thank you for having me be part of your wedding, while at the same time, making me truly feel important and special. That is a wonderful gift.

I love this picture! His smile looks like it is about to jump off his face! He had the look of uncontainable happiness as he saw his bride walking down the aisle!

Katie and Shawn I liked from the first time I met them. Both chill as can be, always with a smile. They make me so comfortable to be around them, and taking there engagement pictures just felt like a day of hanging out with longtime friends. We had a their 200 pound dog, pizza, converse and lots of laughs, it was a great day. I can’ t wait for the wedding!

When Kelly and Don called and asked about a shoot along the skyline drive of the Shenandoah, I was so excited. It’s sad to say I have never done the drive or been out the the Shenandoah, and I love the outdoors and hiking! So not only was it a good excuse to see this beautiful area, but it was a day of hanging out with two awesome people. I had so much fun! I do think my favorite part was when I was taking the below ring shot. Don says “you should take that fast and we should go get in the car” I asked why and Don says “because of the bears”. There was a mama bear and her cubs walking around behind me as I was taking the picture! That was definitely a first.

Day after photos, Cliffs of Moher

This wedding was epic. I have been to a lot of weddings now, and I remember on numerous occasions at Erica and Jonathan’s wedding in which my jaw dropped. The reception castle, the greenery, the day after session at the famous Cliffs of Moher, it was all way beyond words. The whole wedding gave me chills. Erica and Jonathan are both such amazing people, it was such an honor to photograph their epic wedding in scenic Ireland.

The wedding was full of fun and a lot of Irish touches. The majority of the guest were locals as the bride is originally from Ireland (she moved to the states when she was young). Those guys know how to party. Erica even hiked up her dress to show off some of her traditional Irish dancing. I love the shot with the minister and his Guinness, only in Ireland. The wedding went until past 5am, like I said before the Irish know how to party!

After the late night Erica and Jonathan woke up early to travel across Ireland to do a day after shoot at the Cliffs of Moher. I have had a lot of crazy engagement shoots in my life, but this one was definitely the most crazy ever. When on top of a little castle at the edge of the cliffs, one of the men that work there said to us “you can climb to the exposed top if you want”. Erica, who has a fear of heights, agreed (I was shocked). So there we were with a 360 degree view, wind whipping Erica’s veil and me shacking so hard it was hard to hold my camera. It was sublime, and we got some of my favorite pictures ever! So thank you two for your epic wedding, facing your fear of heights for the sake of photography and for giving me an experience I will never forget. Another big thank you to my wonderful husband who helped out in so many ways.
